How to clean the doormats

Modified on Sat, 18 Mar, 2023 at 3:34 AM

Your doormat plays host to every shoe and paw that's ever stepped through your door. As a result, it contains allergens, road dirt, and bits of rotting leaves and mulch. If you have pets, the doormat could harbor ticks or fleas. Please follow some quick and easy tips listed below to ensure that you keep the dirt and debris to a minimum.

1. Shake or beat loose dirt out of doormats weekly: Good shaking will remove a lot of dust and dirt that would otherwise be tracked into your home. You can also help dislodge dirt ground in the mat by smacking the mat against an outside surface such as the sidewalk.
2. Vacuum the mat with the brush attachment to remove any remaining dust: After shaking, you can quickly vacuum the doormat to make sure all the dirt got out, whether you use a small hand-held or traditional vacuum cleaner. Doing this regularly will help keep dirt and stains out of your doormat.
3. While washing, avoid using strong detergents or coir matting while washing, you can try using baking soda instead: If the doormat emits an unusual odor while in use, you can also use baking soda to eliminate the odor. Place some baking soda on your doormat and let it sit for ten minutes before rubbing it in with a scrub brush. Allow the mat to sit for another five minutes before vacuuming.
4. Make sure the doormats are completely dry before putting them back into place: Sweep or clean the area where the doormat usually sits before returning it to prevent future dust from making its way onto the mat
