What should I do if my doormat is wrinkled?

The reason for this matter is that your doormat has been rolled up, in a truck, and a warehouse for who knows how long and likely at high temperatures. All that heat “presses” the folds and wrinkles into place.

Here’s a quick fix to smooth out the wrinkles safely, quickly, and easily.

1. Lay it out
After you bring your new doormats home, the first thing to do is lay them out on the floor for a few days. Sometimes all the doormats need is a little gravity and time to reshape and flatten out.
2. Weigh it down
- You can also try weighing your rug down to relieve some of the creases and help it to lay flat.
- If the corners of your doormats are still sticking up or not laying flat against the floor, try weighing it down with a stack of heavy books or furniture. Keep the weight on top of the doormat for up to a week to ensure they stay down.
3. Warm it up

Heating your doormats can help eliminate creases that prevent them from laying smoothly on the floor.
- Lay the doormat in sunlight for a few hours to warm up the back of it. The heat helps to loosen the fibers which makes them more susceptible to movement.
- You can also use a hair dryer to warm up the doormat. Be sure to use a low to medium heat setting only and hold the hair dryer 6-9 inches away from the rug to prevent melting or burning. Always keep the blow dryer moving. Never let the heat warm one spot for too long.
